Muhammadu Buhari, who was today announced the winner of the 2015
Presidential elections under the All Progressive Congress (APC), has
announced free tuition in all Federal universities and polytechnic in
the country.
Speaking to journalists today, the President-elect said he is declaring free education at tertiary level in appreciation of the support given to his mandate by Nigerian youths.
“I want to thank you all for your support,” Buhari announced.
According to him, most of those who supported him are youths and the only way to repay them is to give them access to education at all levels.
“Education is important and I pledge to make sure, as soon as I take-over, that you don’t have to pay for it in any federal university or polytechnic in this country,” the President-elect said.
Buhari also said he has plans to extend the free education to primary and secondary schools in the nearest future.
This is good news for many young Nigerians who face rising tuition fees at their various institutions.
